Hybrid Cloud Shifts Towards Innovative Services

Brian Stevens, EVP & CTO, Red Hat

Meticulously designed to satisfy the needs of today’s IT professionals, open Hybrid cloud is not a product but a way of delivering an innovative service. The cloud is the fastest path to innovation; Companies falter in figuring out their needs of using either a public cloud or a private one but the truth is they need a combination of both, but not necessarily at all times. They need a solution that will allow them to build private and public clouds, but easily move between them as their needs change. This is where open hybrid clouds come in. They afford organizations the ability to create a hybrid cloud solution and benefit from having the option of both public and private clouds.

As the IT sector is becoming giant and heterogeneous, consisting of different tools from various vendors. IT professionals have chosen not to be locked into any one system; as a result, they are using many, and need solutions that will work together, regardless of the technology they have incorporated into their environment.

That’s why companies have introduced the concept of the open hybrid cloud; it suits the way IT is headed and an open model is the only way to truly experience the benefits of cloud.

Connecting few big racks and spaces just doesn’t build up a hybrid cloud. It takes a lot of weaving in a fluid, interconnected, and interoperable infrastructure that's based on standards, draws from innovation wherever it's happening, and leaves the customer in control of their own IT destiny. That’s because open hybrid clouds are not dependent on proprietary, closed systems. Organizations can make their move into the cloud using open, innovative technologies that afford them an unprecedented level of flexibility. It gives the users the freedom to add features, providers and technologies from a variety of heterogeneous vendors. Further, open hybrid clouds can be highly cost-effective, as they enable full portability to other clouds. In recent times, companies approach is to provide innovative solutions that will give customers unparalleled flexibility while helping them reduce their costs as they reach their goals faster.

Open software is changing the business’s nitty-gritty in many organizations. Hence, it is on its way to becoming the default standard for the next generation of IT. Through open source, IT administrators can choose any vendor they want and have access to some of the most innovative, committed developers in the world. Open source is allowing these administrators to do revolutionary things within their organizations. It’s providing them with the power to innovate, rather than simply focusing on keeping the lights on. With an open private cloud, users can add public cloud resources for capacity on demand. They are standardized, interoperable and modular, preventing lock-in while providing ease of migration and innovation. Most importantly, they help organizations become more efficient and agile—now and in the future.
